Hungary has the biggest heart!
The Hungarian Maltese Charity Service has just turned 20 and the major anniversaries are a good time to look back and celebrate too. looking back over the last 20 years, one of our most important experiences has been that we can feel safe in relying on Hungarian people at all times as, even in diffi cult times, they could put their own interests aside to help the needy.
This is what happened when East German refugees were accepted, during the days of the Romanian revolution and also at the time of certain natural disasters.
Very many people deal with the everyday problems of poverty in non-everyday ways, so we Maltese charity workers have always experienced a selfless willingness to help in Hungary.
A good example of this is the friendship with our winemaking friends, as a result of which we have been able jointly to provide the needy with ever greater help year after year. We are sure that in this special year it won’t be any diff erent. Th e heart and soul of our friends are in those wonderful wines which they off er for the benefi t of the poor and so there are in that great common heart, which is the biggest in the world!
